It is not advisable to place your piano near radiator or heating ducts. The hot air that emits from these equipment can damage the wood of the piano and can affect its tuning and it will affect your playing piano besides the cracks it can make will make your piano look aesthetically unpleasing.

You should also avoid placing your piano where there is direct sunlight as it can damage your piano’s finish as well. Listening to a playing piano can be a soothing event especially if your piano is well taken care of.

A playing piano is also a beautiful thing to look at, more so if it is clean and shiny.  There is actually a cleaner made especially for pianos and this should be used in cleaning your piano. In case you don’t have a piano polish then a damp, clean microfiber cloth can be used.  Microfiber cloths can easily be purchased from your local automotive or department store.

When cleaning the keys of your piano make sure you clean from the top only.  Should you find it hard to clean them, you can make use of a mild soapy solution, ensure that water doesn’t trickle down the sides of the keys.  Dry them thoroughly as well. Don’t use cleaning fluids or cleaning chemicals to clean your piano keys.
